Description

The Mon River allows for flat water canoeing right in Morgantown. If you want to do a longer trip, you will have to go through locks. There are 14 access points that allow for put-ins and take-outs along 65 miles of river.

Directions from Morgantown

Put in at the Hazel Ruby McQuain Park boat ramp in downtown Morgantown. The other ramps close to town are to the north at Star City Riverfront Park and Van Voorhis launch (The end of Van Voorhis Rd 2.1 miles from the intersection with Burroughs St. and Chestnut Ridge Rd to the River).  To the south are two access points, including Uffington boat ramp (Co. Rd 73 2.6 miles south) and the Opekiska lock and dam (follow directions to the White Day Creek take out).
