Canoeing:

Tygart River (Grafton)

Description

This section includes 10 miles of class A-I water (only one small rapid). It is downstream from the lake, so water flows are kept consistent, which makes canoeing available all year. Put in at the park near the dam and take out at Valley Falls State Park (make sure you take out before the falls, high water can produce disastrous consequences). If you take out at Valley Falls, make sure you sign in at the state park prior to your run (regulation). Alternative put-in/ take out spots at the Grafton High School (with permission) and at Camp Towles.

Directions:

The put-in is at Grafton below the dam (Google Directions below).
