Hiking — Cheat Narrows Swimming

Boy jumping off rock.

Description

The Cheat Narrows provides many relatively easy access places to swim along Rt. 72. The river is narrow (hence the name) and deep in spots, so jumping off rocks is possible. Just pull off the road at a turnout and look for a fun spot to jump in. This is a popular place for fishing as well as whitewater boating.

Directions from Morgantown

Rt. 7 through Masontown, Reedsville and Kingwood to Rt. 72 south (along the river). Park along the road beginning at Pringle Run bridge for the next five miles along Rt. 72 toward Rowlesburg.
