Description:
A classic class IV-V run with consistent releases during the summer make this the premier class IV-V whitewater destination during the summer. The releases are scheduled. Commercial Outfitters offer trips on this section of river (all Ohiopyle based outfitters run the Upper Yough). Map (pdf).
Directions:
The Upper Yough is located in Western Maryland, near Deep Creek. The take-out is in Friendsville next to the bridge and Wilderness Voyagers (Google directions below). To get to the put-in, follow Rt. 42 South for 5.3 miles to Gap Run Rd. on the right. Go .7 miles and turn left on Bishoff Rd. Go 1.2 miles and turn right on Sang Run Rd. Go 2.2 miles to the river.
