Description:
This is one of the best bouldering and top-rope sites in the eastern U.S. It offers a lifetime of high quality bouldering as well as lots of great top rope sites. The well known and more visited climbing spots include Sunset Wall, Roadside Rocks, Upper Rock City, and Tilted Tree. These areas are identified on the Coopers Rock map, but there are many other spots waiting for personal exploration. Roof Rocks is another climbing site at Coopers that is not described in detail in the guides listed below. It is a great first time top-rope spot with around 10 climbs that are 5.3-5.6. Directions:
Coopers Rock is just to the east of Morgantown. For Roadside, Sunset, Upper Rock City and Tilted tree, turn right and go 3 miles to the the main parking area (Google directions below). The climbers kiosk is on the left in the large gravel parking lot. For Roof Rocks, turn right on the Henry Clay Iron Furnace rd and go almost to the end to a small trail on the left. The site is 25 yards down the trail.
