Description:
Canaan Mountain is a high elevation plateau that sits in between Canaan Valley and Blackwater Canyon. This area is one of the classic mountain biking locations in WV and was part of some early Canaan Valley races in the 1980's. There are 11 single track trails totaling 33 miles. The Canaan Loop Road is located toward the outside of the backcountry area and allows for multiple loop rides. Trail Map (Highlands Conservancy) Trail Map and Brochure (Mon. National Forest).
Directions:
The Canaan Mountain Backcountry is located in Northeast West Virginia, between Blackwater Falls and Canaan Valley State Park, near Davis, WV. The Canaan Loop Rd. is a fifteen mile gravel road that becomes a 4x4 road on the west side of the area past the Table Rock Trail. There are nine trailhead/parking spots to access the area from this road. Google directions below take you to the start of the Canaan Loop Rd. off of Rt. 32.
