High Falls of the Cheat
The High Falls of the Cheat is a great swimming hole area because there are multiple spots to swim and there is a hike to get there, so crowds are not likely (unless the train stops with a group when you are there). The High Falls Trail starting at Forest Rd. 44 is 3.6 miles to get to the falls, but there are swimming spots along the Shavers Fork from the time the trail meets the water at 2.75 miles. Round trip, this is over a seven mile hike.
High Falls is located in central WV, southeast of Elkins.
