Gerald Freeman Campground
Description:
Gerald Freeman Campground is located on an arm of Sutton Lake at the mouth of Holly River. Activities in the area center around the lake, including canoeing, swimming and fishing. The lake is bordered by the Elk River Wildlife Management Area, which offers hunting and off trail hiking. Gerald Freeman Campground includes 159 total sites with some shaded and some in the sun. Facilities include water, electric, a bathhouse, dump station, marina boat rental, playground, picnic tables and a boat ramp. This campground is open from May to early December. The campground is managed by the Army Corps of Engineers and some sites are reservable (See link below).
Directions:
Sutton Lake is located in central West Virginia, just to the east of Sutton. Gerald R. Freeman Campground (Google directions below) is located at the eastern part of the lake off of Kanawha Run Rd.
