Camping:

Summersville Lake

Description:

Summersville Lake is a great location for outdoor recreation.  The lake is a  2790 acre reservoir that is great for canoeing and fishing.  Rock climbing is abundant in the area and hiking trails exist on the adjacent wildlife management area.  Battle Run Campground is located on the southern portion of the lake, just beside the dam.  It is situated on a peninsula of the lake, so water access and views are all around.  There are 110 drive in sites and 7 walk in tent sites.  The campground includes a bathhouse with showers, water, electric, a dump station, a fishing dock and boat ramp.  Reservations can be made six months in advance for the busy summer season (see link below).
