Buckhannon River

Description

The Buckhannon includes 36 miles of flat water to class I. It is Great for canoe camping/fishing trips. The suggested level for a clean trip (no scraping) is 7 feet at the Buckhannon Gauge, but lower would be fine for a canoe. Map (pdf).

Directions:

The final take out is on the east side of the covered bridge in Carrolton, WV. To get to the put-in, go back to 119 and go south to Buckhannon. Go south on SR 20 for about 5 miles and take a left onto CR 22 for about 3 miles to Sago (Google Directions below).  Park on a small pull out on the side of the river.  Many put-in options are available along cr 11, cr 13 and in downtown Buckhannon (see map).
