Canoeing:

Little Kanawha River (Wildcat to Falls Mill)

Description:

The Little Kanawha River flows from the western side of West Virginia's higher mountains to meet with the Ohio River.  The sections upstream from this one are whitewater while at the take out Falls Mill is a class IV rapid.  In between, there are thirteen miles of Class C-I (flowing to class I rapids) water that is good for canoeing.  This section will only run during the winter, early spring or high water periods.   River Level - 5.5 to 7 feet at Wildcat Gauge.  

Directions:

The upper part of the Little Kanawha River flows from Upshur County south of Buckhannon west to empty into Burnsville Lake prior to continuing on to the Ohio River. Google directions below are to the put in at Wildcat.  The take-out
