Whitewater — North Fork of the South Branch of the Potomac (Seneca to Hopeville)

Description

This is a great beginner run or intermediate open canoe run. A wide variety of rapids types are found on this consistent class II run. Seneca Rocks, Champe Rocks and North Fork Mountain create a majestic backdrop. 9 miles. Map (pdf).

Directions from Morgantown

Take I-79 south to Weston (exit 99). Take rt. 33 east to Elkins. Continue on 33 east for 35 miles to Seneca Rocks. Turn right at intersection and then left at visitors center entrance. Put-in is near the lower parking lot from the low water bridge. Take out is about 8 mile from Seneca Rocks to the North on Rt. 28. Look for a large pull-out as the river comes right up to the road.
