Little Sandy Creek (Lower)

Description:

This is a really fun run that provides a good class III-IV creek experience for a beginner creek boater.  There is a mile of so of slow water with a couple ledges.  Then the larges slide rapid on the Little Sandy begins the continuous class III for 1.5 miles down to the Big Sandy. You must run the last few miles of the Upper Big Sandy, likely at high water level – class IV. 5+ miles. Map (pdf).

Directions:

You are ok to park in the church parking lot except on Sundays.  You can also park near the bridge on Rt. 26.  Get to the take-out by taking cr 26-16 to cr 14-3 to cr 14 to the Rockville Bridge (Put in for the Lower Big Sandy).
