Cheat River Narrows

This section can be run during low water times much of the summer as a class II-II+ section, but is big and pushy at high water levels (Class III). 3 to 5 miles. The road along the river makes for an easy shuttle (by bicycle or car) and there are many places to put in or take out. Commercial outfitters offer trips on this section. Map (pdf).

The Cheat Narrows is in eastern WV, near Kingwood. The take out is at Pringle Run bridge (Google directions below), several miles south of Camp Dawson. Multiple put-ins are located along Rt. 72 toward Rowlesburg.
