Whitewater:

North Branch of the Potomac (Styer to Shalamar)

Description:

This is considered one of the regions best advanced runs with continuous class IV ledges that create a “western style” higher volume flush whitewater experience (different than most of the pool/drop rivers in the east). 12-13 miles. Map (pdf).

Directions:

At Kitzmiller, MD,  go south on Shalamar rd along the river to the take-out. To get to the put-in (Google map directions below), take rt 42 S from Kitzmiller to rt. 50 W to Gormania. On the MD side, go downstream on a gravel rd to Styer and the put-in.
