Whitewater:

Shavers Fork (Stuart Rec. Area to Parsons)

Description:

This is a class I-II river and flows for 26 miles from Stewart Recreation area to Parsons. It is an intermediate open canoe run or good beginner whitewater run. There are potential alternative put in/take outs along CR 6, 7 and 41 to create shorter or longer trips. There is nice scenery and good overnight trip potential as the Shavers Fork flows through the northern part of the Mon. National Forest.

Directions:

This part of the Shavers Fork is located near Elkins, WV.  Put-in and take-out spots exist at Stewart Rec. Area (Google Directions below), along CR 6 (38.983044, -79.730211), 7 and 41 and at Parsons (39.097111, -79.678673).
