Description:
The Upper Meadow includes a long section of flatwater/ easy warm-up water, then four miles of continuous class IV whitewater and then a shorter section of easier water toward the take-out. This is both a beautiful section of river and a really fun intermediate river. See the American Whitewater link below for more details, including description and flow information. 15 miles. The Meadow River is located in southern West Virginia just south of Summersville. The put-in for this section is located along CR 60/1 north of Rainelle (Google directions below). Alternative put-in spots exist to decrease the flat water section (although they are on very local back roads - see notes on the American WW page below). The take-out is in Russellville, at the Quinwood/Nutterville Rd. bridge. Put-In: 37.984900 ,-80.772300 Take-Out: 38.077468, -80.892131
