Tygart River Gorge

Similar to the Cheat Canyon, this is a big water run through a remote canyon. At low water it is class II-II+ boogie water with class III-IV rapids spaced out in between. At high water, the boogie water turns to solid class III and the big rapids are class IV-V. Map (pdf).

The put-in is in Belington on river left (Google directions below). The take out is the covered bridge at Carrolton. The take out is downstream on the Buckhannon R. Boaters have to do the first 3/4 mile of the shuttle with boats on their back up the railroad tracks.
