Description:
3 miles on the class IV Middle Fork River (more like a creek) and then 4 miles on the much larger Tygert River Gorge. A solid class IV run with higher water on the gorge producing a few class VI+ to V rapids. This is one of the shortest shuttles in the state – doable with a bicycle (a little hilly). To get to the Take-out from the Tygart River, you walk up the train tracks along side the Buckhannon River to Carrolton bridge.
Directions:
The take-out is at the Carrolton, WV covered bridge. To get to the put-in, continue 3.6 miles on the Carrolton rd. At the intersection with CR 11, go left for .6 miles to Audra SP. The put-in (Google directions below) is on the park side (east) of the bridge.
