Shavers Fork Area

Description:

Shavers Fork Area includes trails on both the east and west side of the Shavers Fork River as it flows on the high plateau of Cheat Mountain.  This area has ten trails that total over fifty two miles.  There are gravel roads and many logging roads (closed to vehicles) that join with these trails to allow for loop hikes.  One section of the Allegheny Trail is in this area that totals twenty seven miles.  Gaudineer Knob, a stand of virgin forest is nearby and worth the visit.

The Shavers Fork Area is located in central West Virginia, south of Elkins.
Google Maps directions below are to the Shavers Fork Trailhead on FR 209 (Shavers Fork Rd).  There are also trailheads along FR 92 (Cheat Mtn Rd), FR 47 (White Meadow Rd) and FR 49 (Crouch Run Rd).
