Wolf Gap Recreation Area

Description:

Wolf Gap Recreation Area is located right on the boarder of West Virginia and Virginia in the George Washington National Forest.  There are 4 trails right around the campground area that total over 10 miles of hiking.  Big Schloss is the largest of a number of rock formations in the area that provide a destination with a view.  It is a few miles from Wolf Gap Campground.  The larger trail system of this part of the Lee Ranger District includes 31 trails with a total of almost 100 miles.  All of these trails as well as forest roads can be linked together from Wolf Gap and other trailheads in the area.  The Tuscarora Trail goes through this area and includes shelters that can be used while backpacking.

Wolf Gap is located in eastern West Virginia, south of Wardensville. (Google directions below).
